Firetable Guidelines & Safety Instructions
Please keep these instructions and refer to them every time
that you use your Firetable. If you are unsure
about any of the information below, please call 0870 855 3397.
CONTENTS
1. Firetable: (various ranges): This
is the actual table, consisting of a tabletop and either wooden
lattice style legs or semi-circular legs made from re-constituted
stone. Each tabletop has a recessed hole in the middle. This is
where the Gel Burner should always sit to burn.
2. Gel Burning Reservoir: This is
the anodized aluminium pot which
rests inside the Firetable top and holds the
Gel Fuel, which will be burnt.
3. Flame Reduction Ring: This is
designed to hide the
Reservoir or Tin of Fire gel when in use. The burner ring also
serves to restrict the flame size.
4. Lighter. Only use this lighter
to light your Gel Fuel once you have
filled the Gel Burning reservoir.
5. Gel Fuel. This is provided in
1ltr bottles. Only use this fuel with your Firetable.
Refill the Gel Burning reservoir when the gel has burnt out completely
and the reservoir has completely cooled down.
6. Brushed Aluminium Lid. This lid is
for decorative purposes whilst your Firetable
is not alight. It is also used for extinguishing the flame when
you have finished using your Firetable.
FIRETABLE GEL-FUEL
Firetables supplied by us are designed to use
a SAFETY FIRE-GEL. There are several suitable brands now in the
UK (all selling 0.5L Standard Sized Tins or refill bottles of
different volumes). Firetable sells a range of
standard Refill Bottles because this offers by far the best value
to our customers. Postage is FREE and we sell at the RRP of £4.99
per Litre Bottle. The minimum order is for 6 x 1 litre bottles.
Simply buy your order online at www.firetable.com or telephone
your order to 0870 855 3397.
NEVER USE any other product or fuel with your Firetable
including Lamp Oil, Petrol, Methylated Spirits, Paraffin or any
other fuel. You run the risk of explosion and serious injury if
you do not use Firetables recommended Gel Fuel.
FIRETABLE - GENERAL USE & POSITIONING
a) Your Firetable may be used inside
or outside.
b) If your Firetable is used indoors,
ensure you have a ventilated room of a minimum of 40 cubic meters
in size. Most communal living areas should easily provide enough
space.
c) If outside consider that physical weathering and
deterioration of your product may occur over time.
d) The consumer should consider whether the prevailing
conditions in either environment are suitable (e.g.; too windy,
children playing) please note that in windy conditions, the Fire-Gel
will burn more quickly.
e) When positioning your Firetable
ensure it is at least 1m away from any flammable products such
as books, curtains, studded walls, pictures, shelves etc.
f) Place your Firetable on a flat
and stable foundation, such as a solid floor or outside patio
area.
g) You do not need a flu or chimney to use your Firetable
- our Fire-Gel burns without creating soot or smoke & the
spent gases are non-toxic and almost totally odourless. Gel burners
do release water vapour into the air and you may notice that the
temperature of the room increases if alight for longer than 2
hours at a time.
h) Do not give children or pets access to the
Firetable (unless supervised) Gel Fuel or it’s
lighting accessories.
i) Do not leave your Firetable unattended
in the company of Children or Pets when it is still hot immediately
after burning.
j) Do not use a tablecloth on top of your Firetable.
k) Do not lean over the Gel Burner and keep all body
parts out of the naked flame.
l) Do not pour the Gel Fuel into an already burning
Gel Burning Reservoir. The Reservoir should only be refilled when
it has cooled and is NOT alight.
m) In case of fire in the home or work place, Firetable Limited
cannot be held liable for any damage, injury or death to the buyer,
operator or any third party caused by the operator’s misuse
or negligence.
n) In the case of misuse or negligence of any Firetable product.
Firetable Limited cannot be held liable for any damage, injury
or death caused by the said misuse or negligence.
o) All negligence or misuse arising from naked flame, which may
result in damage, injury or death, will not be deemed as the responsibility
of Firetable Limited.
p) On receipt or firetable’s goods, it is deemed that all
responsibilities of the handling, use and maintenance of the products,
then becomes the responsibility of the owner or operator.
q) Cigarettes, candles, gelburners, firetables etc are a source
of naked flame and are potentially therefore a possible cause
of household fires. We recommend households that use such products
take the following extra precautions: Keep a fireblanket and/or
fire extinguisher of the correct type within reasonable proximity
at all times. Ensure that your home is fitted with the correct
number and type of smoke alarms.
USE OF THE GELBURNER RESERVOIR / FIREGEL
Before lighting, inspect the condition of your
gel burner and any Gel Reservoir or Tin you intend to use. Tins
sold already containing Fire Gel are generally designed to be
thrown away (or recycled) when they have been used between 1 &
4 times (depending upon the manufacturer's instructions). This
is because the seams down the side and around the edges of the
Tin begin to deteriorate.
Adding Fire-Gel to Reservoirs or Empty Tins: Do
not over-fill the Gel Reservoir or Tin. Always leave at least
1/2inch (1.5cm) at the top. Ensure that the reservoir is clean
(Clean reservoirs after every 2 or 3 uses - dirty reservoirs reduce
the quality of the flame - see cleaning notes). Do not expose
Fire Gel or Fire Gel Vapour to naked flames or cigarettes whilst
refilling.
SPILLING FIRE-GEL: IMPORTANT- CLEAN UP SPILLS!!!
You MUST clean up any spills of Fire-Gel, particularly if a spill
leads to Fire gel penetrating under the Safety Cup and into the
body or underneath the Firetable. The Gel can
be safely wiped up with dry or wet clothes using soapy water.
To eliminate this risk altogether, clean up any spills.
LIGHTING GEL FUEL (IMPORTANT: see note on Relighting
a Fire-Gel)
Firetable has provided a long lighter to light
the surface of the Fire Gel Fuel once it has been placed inside
the reservoir, which sits in the middle of the Firetable.
Under no circumstances should you attempt to use any other methods
of lighting the Gel Fuel. The flame is very difficult to see for
the first few seconds, so please ensure that you keep a sensible
distance from the flame until it becomes visible. Allow 2 to 5
minutes for the flame to develop fully. The wider the Reservoir
(or Tin), the larger the Flame - and the quicker the Fire-Gel
will burn.
To Extinguish Your Firetable and burning gel fire reservoir:
a) Using an oven glove or damp cloth and cover the
Flame and gel fuel reservoir with the brushed aluminium lid.
b) Use the snuffer supplied (on some gel burners, the
snuffer doubles as the lid of the Gel burner). Allow to cool completely
before removing the Tin or Reservoir from the Gel burner - or
attempting to relight.
RELIGHTING GEL-FUEL: IMPORTANT - TAKE CARE!!!
Allow the Fire Gel to cool completely before relighting. Warm
Fire-Gel will IGNITE MUCH MORE QUICKLY than cool Fire-Gel. In
any event, always use the long lighter provided to light the Fire-Gel.
When the Fire-Gel is cool, for best results remove the spoiled
gel that is left on the surface before relighting. For the best
results let the gel fuel completly burn out before relighting.
Adding more Fire-Gel to the Reservoir
First allow the Gel burner and remaining Fire-Gel to cool, then
remove any spoiled gel with a kitchen towel before finally adding
more Fire Gel. DO NOT add Fire Gel to an already burning Tin or
Reservoir.
CLEANING YOUR GELBURNER RESERVOIR:
For continued safe and efficient use of your Gel burner, clean
your gel burner from time to time using mild detergents and a
soft cloth. DO NOT use abrasive (cleaning) materials. Remember
to clean up any Fire Gel spills.
Permanent Reservoirs may be cleaned by filling with water and
leaving to stand for 2 or 3 hours, then flushing with hot water
- you may need to repeat this process once more, then scrape out
and dispose of the remaining gelatinous residue using a kitchen
towel.
FIRE PREVENTION
Cigarettes, candles, gel burners etc are a source of naked flame
and are therefore are a major cause of household fires. We recommend
that households that use such products take the following extra
precautions: Keep a fire blanket and/or fire extinguisher (of
the correct type) under the kitchen sink just in case. Ensure
that your home is fitted with the correct number and type of smoke
alarms.
IN THE EVENT OF ACCIDENTAL CONSUMPTION:
Please read the directions on the side of the Fire gel Bottle
or Tin. These will normally indicate that medical advice should
be sought as quickly as possible. The main ingredients in many
fire gels are Ethanol and Iso-Propanol. The FIREGEL we supply
is registered on a UK national poisons database and is accessible
by NHS Direct operators.
